"Essere o non essere, questo è il dilemma." This is the timeless question Shakespeare posed centuries ago. It lingers through time, shifting only in context, yet always returning to the same core dilemma. "To be or not to be." Are we defined by our own perception of ourselves, or by how others see us? Are we observers of life or its consumers? Are we the force that propels us forward, or merely the reflection cast by the gaze of those around us?
We question whether we are the life granted to us or the life we fight to claim. Are we the choices we make or the hopes we cling to? The tension between *us* and *our reflection* mirrors the eternal struggle: the existence we inherit or the one we carve out through effort.
Shakespeare’s words resonate as a mirror to my own reflections. The question isn’t just philosophical, it’s personal. It asks whether we are passive recipients of life or active participants in shaping it. Whether we are the spark that glows in darkness or the shadow that fades under harsh light.
We are both the life given to us and the life we mould with our actions. We define our existence not just for ourselves, but for the communities we build. As with the ecosystems we’ve distanced ourselves from, our actions ripple outward, benefiting others and, in turn, ourselves.
The answer, perhaps, lies in the balance: we are the givers and receivers of life, the observers and the observed, the thinkers and the reflections. To be is to engage, to shape, and to grow.
